At present, there are many methods for design process model. All the methods make design as a movement that pure technology decides, but have both advantages and disadvantages to express different information of different aspects of design process. Reference 4 analyzed critical oath method (CPM), design structure method (DSM), structure analyzing method, IDEF series method and Petri net modeling [4]. Reference 5 used multi-context map (MCM) and collaborative linkage map (CLM) to model. MCM and CLM are proposed by Yamatake Company in Japan and Sophia University.

In this paper, the collaborative design working mode and the architecture based on project management is put forwards, it is emphasized to study on the implementation mechanism of the system, and the archetypal system of collaborative design based on project management is developed to verify its function. 1. The designers distributed at the network nodes are grouped to several synergetic teams to take part in the collaborative design work. The same one or more design tasks are carried out by multi-user.

Based on the survey of existing research work on collaborative design and on our experiences and work in product growth design theory, a feasible approach—collaborative product growth design method to integrate the genetic engineering methodology, collaborating tools and web based information into the automatic design activity has been proposed in this paper. Firstly, the product growth design strategy and its characteristics are studied based on automation technology in the product structure design.
